Irish eyes will be focused on South Wales on Friday.
That’s when Banwen in the Dulais Valley celebrates its link with the patron saint of Ireland, St Patrick.
It is said he was born there when the Romans had a fort guarding the Sarn Helen road from South to North Wales and was kidnapped aged 6 and taken to Ireland by pirates.
A few years ago the village resurrected the link and has been celebrating it ever since with Irish and Welsh participants, singing and music, with a commemorative plaque unveiled and the fun begins about 10.30am Friday.
